On this Father's day I thought we could reflect some more on the example of Homer Simpson's faith. Homer is a fallen father, but one that actually loves his kids and spends tons of time with them (even if it is watching TV or eating donuts). Homer is also a spiritual man who struggles with his real faith (real for a cartoon, at least) and struggles with God to be a better husband and dad. Sometimes he's raw and crude with his faith... other times he's inspirational. Here are some more spiritual quotes from my favorite TV dad:
Homer: Your mother has this crazy idea that gambling is wrong. Even though they say it's okay in the bible. Lisa: Really? Where? Homer: Uh... Somewhere in the back.
God: Thou hast forsaken My Church! Homer: Uh, kind-of... b-but... God: But what! Homer: I'm not a bad guy! I work hard, and I love my kids. So why should I spend half my Sunday hearing about how I'm going to Hell? God: [pause] Hmm... You've got a point there.
Marge: Homer, the Lord only asks for an hour a week. Homer: Well in that case he should've made the week an hour longer. [mumbles] Lousy God.
Dear Lord, the gods have been good to me. As an offering, I present these milk and cookies. If you wish me to eat them instead, please give me no sign whatsoever ... thy will be done. (munch munch munch)
God cannot be EVERYWHERE, right? ( Homer as Adam in a dream ).
God bless those pagans.
I'm having the best day of my life, and I owe it all to not going to Church!
Oh, everything's too expensive these days. This Bible cost 15 bucks! And talk about a preachy book! Everybody's a sinner! Except this guy.
A big mountain of sugar is too much for one man. I can see now why God portions it out in those little packets.
